Mr Richard Smith, leader of the UK Womb Transplant Research Team, said he and the team were delighted to hear that the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio was beginning a series of 10 womb transplants in a research programme similar to our own here in the UK.
“The Cleveland Clinic is renowned for pioneering medicine and its announcement is further proof that womb transplantation is seen internationally as a viable option for some of the many women who have been born without or or who have lost their uterus though illness,” said Mr Smith
“We congratulate the womb transplant team at the Cleveland Clinic and wish them well for their research programme.’
WombTransplantUK.org hopes to begin a series of 10 operations in the Spring of 2016. The charity is working to raise £500,00 to complete its research programme.
